This workshop will help professionals working with individuals who have engaged in sexual offense behavior better understand the assessment of sexual deviance as part of comprehensive forensic evaluation, treatment, risk assessment, case conceptualization, treatment planning, and community supervision.
The presenters will review the research literature and outline a structured approach for evaluating the potential presence of sexual deviance. The training will introduce commonly used screening tools and indirect measures of sexual interest, including their administration, interpretation, strengths, and limitations.
Participants will also receive an introduction to the penile plethysmograph as a physiological measure of sexual arousal, including its clinical applications, interpretive considerations, and methodological and ethical limitations.
